Dean, School of Management Studies, Dr. Amarjeet Kaur Malhotra spoke on “Employers’ Expectations from Accounting Professionals” during the panel discussion on ” Professional Accountants – The Future: Drivers of Change and Future Skills  ” organised by All India Accounting Association during its 39th annual Congress held at Bangalore University, Banglore on 16th & 17th December 2016. This annual accounting congress was attended by more than 1,000 participants from across the globe.

A Guest session was conducted on 7th February’17, for MBA final year students on the topic of B2B marketing and invasion of online tools in marketing by Mr. Anooj Mehtaa, founder and CEO of Paper Bind.

Mr. Anooj is a seasoned B2B marketer and business developer who has worked in various technology based B2B platforms as well as worked with esteemed organizations such as HP at the start of his career. Mr. Anooj took a highly engaging 2 hour session on practical B2B marketing and sales techniques. He enlightened the students with a lot of tricks of the trade and how to make it big in the field of marketing and sales. He introduced the students to various examples of marketing analytics and how it is changing the scenario of the market today.

The conference aims to deliberate and discuss research around the prevalent issues, challenges and prospects of the basic pillars of education, skill development, government role and policies, in-house manufacturing, digitalization and other allied areas.

Environment Club Ansal University organized a Marathon for the social cause of “Live Healthy Breathe Healthy”  on Saturday, 19th November 2016.There were 120+ runners who took part in this run. There were students and faculty members from Ansal University, NGO kids from Koshsih. There were school kids and their teachers from Scottish High as well.This event was partially sponsored by Rotary Club of Gurgaon, Qutab Enclave (RI Distt. 3001).The event graced  by Chief Guest, Rao Narbir Singh, Hon. Minister for PWD and Forests, Govt. of Haryana. Winners were awarded trophies in senior (students) and junior (school kids) categories.

 


The School of Management Studies successfully conducted the first CSR Case Study Workshop 2016 during 18-19 November, 2016, in collaboration with Manvi Foundation, a leading NGO in Delhi.
 
On the first day, a brief session on Companies Act 2013 and CSR. It was followed by a session on developing cases by Dr. Anuja Pandey from AIMA. The second session of the day was on how to use the cases in the classroom, and it was conducted by Prof. Kamlesh Misra, Advisor-AU.
 
The Book Launch was the highlight of the day, with VC Sir gracing the event and doing the honours of releasing the book titled: From Act to Action: CSR Practices Today. This book contains all the Case studies received by the organizers and they have been published in the form of an edited book with ISBN Number, by Excel Publishers. 
 
Day Two began with a Panel Discussion on From Act to Action: Did the companies Act 2013 bring any difference to the CSR Practices. The Panelists included, Miss Chetna Kaura (India CSR Lead, Sapient), Dr. Anubhuti Bhatnager (Founder of NGO Neofustion), Mr. Rohit Thomas Koshy (Entrepreneur in Residence, Baxi Taxi), Ms. Runa Mitra (Founder of People Talent International and Corporate Education Evangelist) and Moderator of the session, Dr AK Malhotra, Dean-SMS. 
 

Thereafter,

​it was followed by

 the case presentations and competition. There were three categories of prizes – Industry, Academicians and Students. The event concluded with the certificate and prize distribution event.

Dr. Amarjeet K. Malhotra, Dean – School of Management Studies, conducted a two-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on ‘Trade Finance’ for 25 mid/senior-level officials of Adani Enterprise at its head office in Gurgaon. This was an extensive training program delivered through many innovative pedagogical methods resulted in experiential learning for the participants. Based on the overwhelming response for this session, the company has extended an offer to conduct another MDP/Training program on new accounting standards viz. Ind AS.

 

In order to brighten and enhance business knowledge and skills among the students, Co-Curricular committee of School of Management Studies organized a “Management Quiz” on September 22, 2016 at 2:00 pm in D 501. It was a houseful activity as 22 teams with two members per team participated across the school. There were three rounds, preliminary, round I and final round. Out of all only six teams competed in the final round. Questions were based on management theories, personalities, general knowledge, taglines, brand logos, abbreviations etc.

School of Management Studies (SMS), had wonderful anti ragging activity organized for all its students on 1st September, 2016.

Under the aegis of the SMS Theater Club, Behind the Mask, a short skit was presented across all the classes of SMS to highlight the anti ragging issue and to make them aware about ragging nuisance.

Students bustling with enthusiasm were thankful to faculty Coordinators, Dr. Manmohan Rahul along with Ms. Aparna Sethi, for encouraging them and for giving them such an platform to perform. These kind of activities certainly boost student engagement and loyalty.

 

Orientation for MBA Students: Batch 2016-18

School of Management Studies organized a 15 days Elaborate Orientation session MBA Batch (2016-2018) from July 14 – 29, 2016 wherein a lot of sessions and workshops were conducted for the students, including:

  • Academic sessions on Financial Markets, Accounting Made Easy, Economics, Case Analysis, Communication and Presentation skills.
  • Workshops on Leadership, Management, Theater.
  • Business Plan Competition.
  • Visit to a Local NGO and Biodiversity Park for community outreach.
  • Yoga and Meditation session along with an aerobics session.

 

 

 

Orientation for BBA / BCom Students: Batch 2016-19

Oreintation for BBA and BCom students of School of Management studies for the batch 2016-2017 was held in the Auditorium on 8th August 8, 2016, Monday. The major objective of the programme was to make the parents and students aware of the academic aspects of the programme, the rules and regulations of the University and ensuring parental participation in monitoring the performance and progress of the students.

 

 

 

We welcome all the Undergraduate and Post Graduate Students of MBA, BBA and BCOM programme for the academic session 2016-19.

School of Management Studies inculcates positive reinforcement in the school culture! Students getting acknowledged for their achievements in the event ‘PRASHANSA’ organised by Co-curricular Committee of School of Management Studies.

 

Undergraduate Co-Curricular committee of school of management studies organized a “DRY FLOWER DECORATION COMPETITION” on October20, 2015 for the undergraduate students at 3:00 pm in D-009. There were six teams with two participants per team. Participants got their own flowers and decoration items. Duration given for decoration was 20 minutes. The evaluation was done by Ms. Savita Sharma and Ms. Tanvi, faculties at school of management studies.The arrangements were done so beautifully that it was tough for judges to decide the winners. Raj and Prashant (B.SC HM&CT Semester I) secured first position and Twinkle and Neelam (B.SC HM&CT Semester I) secured second position.

 

“For good ideas and true innovation, you need human interaction, conflict, argument, DEBATE” The debate was held for UG students of BBA, B.COM (H) and B.Sc. HM&CT. There were with 9 participants and each one debated for 2 minutes, some speaking in favor of the topic and other against the topic. Judges evaluation was based on relevance of topic, ability to defend the arguments, intelligent use of points, persuasive skills and body language After the event, the Judges provided the participants with necessary inputs at the individual level for their future improvement. The debate was won by Ms. Vrinda (Winner) and Nitya (Runner up) .

The thought behind this activity was that knowledge is increased by SHARING and not by SAVING!!!

Activity started with trivial facts about history then followed by facts about ipods, honey bees and so on. Important facts were presented on:

  • Every Apple iphone ads displays the time as 9:41 am, the time Steve Jobs unveiled it in 2007
  • The Taj Mahal is taller than The Qutab Minar. (The Taj Mahal is 243.5ft. in height while the Qutab Minar is only 239ft.)
  • An average person has about 1460 dreams a year
  • Mobile phone throwing is an official sport in Finland
  • Honey bees fly at a speed of around 25 km per hour and beat their wings 200 times per second
  • A hive of honey bee fly 90,000 miles (the equivalent of three orbits around the earth) to collect 1kg of honey.
  • Some of the facts about dreams, Wal-Mart etc. were also presented.

It was won by Aakash Gavri (B.Com III) and Priya Arya (B.Com III)

 

Ad-mad contest was organized for BBA, B. Com (H) and B.sc (HMCT). There were eight teams. Each participating team was given a virtual product and 20 minutes to prepare for an advertisement of the same. Duration for presentation of advertisement was 3 minutes. Products given were like umbrella, energy drink, pain relief spray, room fresheners etc. Teams presented the ads in very humorous way with creative logos and brand names. Judgment was based on brand name, punch line, Concept of ad, ability to attract the audience and team work.

Judges for the event were Dr. Atul Kumar Agarwal and Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh

Winners of the contest was: Team H (Yash Dixit, Devika, Muskan, Rishabh Nair, Samiksha Verma)

 

An Experience Sharing Session on Cross Culture Management was held in August for BBA III year students to understand the cultural differences in different countries.

Ms. Lausanne Miller was the speaker for the session. She is born in Philippines and is pursuing her graduation under Public health in Vanderbilt University, Boston. She arrived in Delhi on the 24th August for a research on Public Health. The students interacted with her to understand the culture in Boston and Philippines and how it is different from India. The students mainly interacted on topics like education and family system, work life, bullying, gender differences, food habits, and her experience in India.

 

A Debate competition was held for MBA students to encourage students to share their views, face the audience, learn public speaking skills and enhance their self confidence.
There were six teams. Each participating team had four members. Two speaking for the motion and rest against the motion. Duration for debate for each team was 3 minutes.

Some of the topics debated were as follows:

  • S FOR SELFIES or S FOR STUPIDITY (Is selfie a stupidity or craze)
  • MNCs BOON OR BANE.
  • ARE EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY FOR MINISTRAL POSTS?
  • GOOD ECONOMICS IS GOOD POLITICS

Judgment was based on Delivery, content, relevance argument and closing remarks. The competition was judged by Dr. Indu Prabha Pathak and Ms. Aparna Rahul Sethi

 

A visit to Yakult Danone India Pvt.Ltd , Sonepat was organised for the students of B.com(H) semester I and III on 27th August 2015 where they were accompanied by Prof. Atul K.Agarwal & Ms. Arti Gandotra .

Students got introduced about the history, origin and importance of probiotics. The industrial visit was not only an exposure but also an eye opener towards the healthy product that has been efficiently introduced into Indian markets. The presentation imparted to AU students by the Yakult management was precise and knowledgeable. Students also got exposed to the production, packaging and marketing process of Yakult. It was a study cum fun aspect for the students.

 

Grooming Workshop was organized for MBA students. The objective of this workshop was over all grooming and enlightening the inner self among the students. Mr. Rahul Dahiya, senior manager, Corporate Resource Centre at Ansal University delivered the workshop.

The workshop focused on topics such as – knowing yourself, bringing positivity in your outlook, having an opinion, meeting new people, reading more often and developing new interest, being a good listener, working on your body language, checking your attire, being confident.
