Awards and Honours

School of Law Ansal University was awarded as the ‘Best Emerging Law School’ by Indian National Bar Association (INBA) on the 67th Celebration of the Constitution Day on 26th November 2016 at an International Conference at Shangri-La Eros Hotel in the presence of who’s who of the legal industry and ‘No. 1 Law School’ in the category of Promising Law School by Global Human Resource Development Centre (GHRDC) which is a credible and reputed organization which Ranks different Universities in different disciplines.

Faculty achievements of our School of Law with respect to research publications, conferences and seminars attended, books published, awards are:

Prof. (Dr.) Sanoj Rajan, Dean-SoL

  • Dean School of Law, Ansal University has been invited to speak as the Guest of Honour at the International Law Conference at KIIT University Bhubaneswar, Orissa from 13 to 15 January 2017. The Conference which saw eminent academicians from India and abroad, including the Rector of JNU, Director of Indian Law Institute, a Senior Director of Legal and Treaties Division, Government of India and the Principle Solicitor from Victorian Government, Australia speaking and deliberating on International Law. Along with being the Guest of Honour for the Inaugural function, he also spoke on two Plenary sessions and chaired one Panel on International Criminal Law.
  • School of Law was invited for a lecture at the 27th South Asian Teaching Session (SATS) on International Humanitarian Law on 9th December 2015. The 27th SATS was attended by a group of 33 participants comprising of senior level Diplomats, Military Officials and Bureaucrats from 8 countries in South Asia and Iran. The week long program was conducted at the Lemon Tree Hotel, New Delhi from 6th December to 12th December 2015.
  • The Dean, Prof. Dr. Sanoj Rajan, SOL on behalf of School of Law delivered the talk on the “Interrelationship of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law”.

Dr. Komal Sandhu, Assistant Professor

  • Presented paper titled “Imparting Legal Education: Scope And Importance” in National Seminar on Legal Education in India and Career in Law organised by Mahrishi Dayanand University, Rohtak on 21st February, 2015.
  • Presented paper titled “Academic Research and Copyrights Issues” in Professional summit 2015 on Transforming Dimensions of IPR: Challenges for New Age Libraries organised by National Law University, Delhi on 23-24th January, 2015.

  • Presented paper titled, “Law And Cyber Crimes: International Perspective” International Conference on Public International Law, jointly organised by Amity Law School, Delhi and Amity Society For International Law held on 11-12th October, 2014.
  • Presented paper titled “Scope of Corporate Social Responsibility in Companies Act, 2013” in National Seminar on Emerging Trends in Corporate Governance: Legal Issues & Challenges in India organised by Amity University, Noida on 11th April, 2014.

  • Abraham Joseph’s article published in the leading national news portal, The Wire has been published as the Editorial in Khaleej Times.
    Khaleej Times is the oldest English newspaper in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and one of the most widely read papers in the Arab world and across the globe. School of Law, Ansal University is immensely proud of the fact this is one of the few occasions where a foreign newspaper of international standing and repute has devoted an exclusive Editorial written by an Indian academic.

  • As a Research Associate in the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), was part of the team responsible for providing key research assistance for the framing of the Companies Act, 2013.
  • Presented a paper titled ‘Need to examine the necessity of having an Asylum Law in India -A critique of the Asylum Bill, 2015” in the International Conference on ‘Contemporary Issues in Refugee Law and Syrian Exodus organized by Ansal University.
  • Worked as a Research Associate in the Commons Cell (an Environmental Law Research Centre) of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore from July 2011- June 2012.
  • Worked as Teaching Associate (TA) in International Humanitarian Law at National Law School of India University, Bangalore from November 2011- January 2012.
  • All India Rank 4 in PG Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), 2010.
  • Secured the Army, Navy Air Force Gold medal for securing the highest marks in International Humanitarian Law among LL.M students.
  • Secured a CGPA of 5.84 out of 7 at NLSIU, Bangalore (Second Topper among LLM-Human Rights Law students).
  • Participated in the National Conference on “Access to Copyrighted Materials for Persons with Disability” organized by the MHRD Chair on Intellectual Property Rights and Center for Intellectual Property Rights Research and Advocacy, Bangalore on 26th November, 2015 at National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore.

Ms. Pratibha Motyar, Assistant Professor

  • Participated in orientation programme on “Arbitration Conciliation & Mediation Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)” conducted by the International Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution Regional Centre, Bangalore at NLSIU, Bangalore.
  • Attended national conference on the “Proposed Amendments to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996”, in the presence of Governor of Karnataka and chairman of ICADR, Dr. H.R Bhardwaj.
  • Participated in the workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights and IP Management” conducted by Indian Institute of Law at Bangalore.

Ms. Aditi Prasad, Teaching Associate

  • She has about 5 years of experience working both in corporate and litigation which includes a Sojourn at Rome, Italy to complete a Unilex research internship at International Institute for unification of Private law (U.N.I.D.R.O.T.).
  • She audited case abstracts for the disputes governed by United Nations Convention on International Sale of Goods (CISG) Vienna, 1980 as a part of the said internship and also conducted a research on the utility and futility of harmonization focusing in particular on International Arbitration under the guidance of Ms. ElenoraFinnazi Agro, Lawyer & Faculty International Business Laws, University of Rome “La Sapienza“, Italy.

1.Siddhant Madan(BA. LLB,2nd year)

Siddhant Madan, student of 2nd year BA LLB has been announced to be presented with a medal by ACP France in June 2017 for his achievements in Cycling. On November 11, 2016, he has cycled from Noida to Garh Mukteshwar and back, thus completing 204 KM in less than 8 hours. On January 15, 2017, he competed against finest racers in NCR and finished 9th out of 16. This race was a 100 KM challenge where the average clocked speed was more than 33 KMPH.

For the upcoming year, he has planned to ride from Delhi to Khanna (Punjab) and back, thus covering more than 600 KM in less than 40 hours on 28th January 2017. Following this, he would be participating in one of the oldest cycling events in the UK known as the LEL – London Edinburgh London. This ride would comprise of riding from London to Edinburgh and back, thus covering more than 1400 KM in one ride.

2.Manmita Chopra (BA.LLB, First Year)

She has been a part of Student Coordinators for Channel V Fest, 2015 held on 23 January at Ansal University, Gurgaon
She participated in Gurgaon Model United Nations, 2015 in Marvel v DC Committee held on 31st January-1st January

3.Medhavi Gureja

She was crowned as Miss Fresher 2014 in the Radio Mirchi Miss/Mr Fresher held on 23rd November, 2014
She is a member of the Hospitality Team of Ansal University

4.Heena Chawla , Simran Tokas

They participated in a talk show ‘We the People’ hosted by Barkha Dutt on August 9, 2014 on the issue of ‘Juvenile Delinquency’ and represented School of Law, Ansal University there.

5.Mr. Raghumanyu Taneja

Raghumanyu Taneja a 3rd year law student came second in the Amity Mock Parliament and got a trophy with a ‘High Commendation Award’ in the Lok Sabha committee. The committee had 84 participants and the agenda was ” Economic and Monetary Policies with special emphasis on Black Money and GST “. He was in the opposition and was representing Kozhikode.

He was given a verbal mention in the Mock Lok Sabha at Daulat Ram College of Delhi University on the agenda of “Sedition law”. He came up with a Private Member Bill and it was unanimously passed in the committee. He portfolio was Captain Amrinder Singh Gill representing Amritsar

He was also awarded a ‘Verbal Mention Award’ at the “CROSS- Model United Nations” which was held in Shri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, University of Delhi. The Agenda of the General Assembly was ‘Universal Comprehensive Laws Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination’. The committee witnessed a participation of 80 people and Raghumanyu managed to be in the top 7. He was representing the delegation of Peru.

Mr. Raghumanyu Taneja, a student of 2nd Year B.A.LL.B. scored first position in a discussion/ debate competition in collaboration with Chief Vigilance Office of RailTel India Limited on the theme “Preventive Vigilance is a tool of good governance” held on 29th October, 2015.

Raghumanyu Taneja, now in 3rd year, received a special mention award along with a trophy in the Neeti youth parliament organised by SGTB Khalsa college, Delhi University. His portfolio was Rahul Gandhi and he was in the Lok sabha committee.The Neeti youth parliament had over 1000 delegates from all across the country with over 8 different committees including Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha, Crisis Committee, Stakeholders meet among others.
