Ref. No.:  SET/N/Mar/23/2015/028

ABSTRACT

The children, at different levels of learning and course levels need to be motivated according to their specific needs.  The Freshers’ particularly by stressing upon the importance of their meticulous pursuit of studies from the beginning, so that they find it easy and agreeable to keep abreast of their curriculum and are not frustrated in trying to desperately make up a backlog.  This is an immensely negative practice and a tiring one, with no positive outcome or progress. Secondly they must be encouraged to come out openly, but courteously, of any problems of adjustment that they might face.  Would advise them to be tolerant, imbibe the maximum, approach the Counselor in case of any personal or educational or personality problems which may be bothering them and need to resolved.

SET Faculty Seminar Series

Module for the Faculty: A Holistic Approach to Handling Students

Dr. Vineeta Gardener, Counselor-AU

27 March 2015, 4 PM to 5 PM, D-Block – Room 301

Ref. No.:  SET/N/Mar/23/2015/029

Stress upon the gentle and diplomatic handling of students who are essentially coping with courses demanding perfection and a high level of concentration. Hence allowances have to be made for accommodating the vicissitudes of an artistic temperament and dealing with pressure as the Students progress and their course levels of instruction get more exacting and complex.   Accessibility, understanding and flexibility of attitude towards vexatious issues of all kinds must be maintained at all times, to build up the level of student confidence in their professors and facilitators of knowledge. In turn, in case the Faculty feel the need to share to de-burden themselves of some of their stress levels, they are always most welcome to address the counselor for personal or professional problem.  Needless to say their discussions will always be held as sacrosanct and maintained in confidence.  The above are broad parameters of discussion and dissemination for the adaption or extension of which more views and ideas are always welcome.

Module for 2nd Year Students: Perseverance & Progress with a Psychological Bias

Dr. Vineeta Gardener, Counselor-AU

30 March 2015, 10 AM to 11 AM, D-Block – Room 421

Ref. No.:  SET/N/Mar/23/2015/030

It needs to be emphasized that the second and third year students, who have obviously got into the rhythm of their studies and acquired a certain desired level of proficiency, must maintain steady progress and not slacken at this crucial inter-mediate level of their course curriculum, as this would be highly detrimental to not only their further educational progress but also make them lag behind which, in turn would lead to a great deal of frustration. It is imperative, therefore, that they articulate, clearly and precisely, any personal, professional or academic issues which may be worrying them and proving to be obstructive irritants in their aim of achieving a modicum of success and achievement. The mind must be emptied of negative influences and ideas from time to time, in order to make way for greater attention spans, more productive learning and a more positive social interaction to develop the potential of the human personality to the full.

The Dynamics of Success in Professional & Personal Life

Dr. Vineeta Gardener, Counselor-AU

The students who are on the verge of graduating and entering new careers and a competitive and extremely challenging phase in their lives, will need to be advised accordingly. It has to be emphasized that they maintain an emotional and attitudinal equilibrium at all times in their dealings with diverse streams of people that they are likely to encounter and have significant dealings with in the course of their careers.  Mature and balanced interactions and reactions with individuals who maybe of somewhat aggressive and negative temperaments are absolutely essential, if they are not to be thrown off-balance by unexpected situations. Also that they must make informed decisions and choices about their careers and relationships as these are likely to play a significant role in their lives and mould the course of their future happiness progress.
