Global Center for IPR Education and Research

The Global Center for IPR Education and Research has been established by the School of Law to undertake advanced study and research in the emerging areas of IPR with an inter-disciplinary approach. Presently the centre is coordinated by Mr. R K Nair, a leading Advocate (Specialized in Intellectual Property Laws) & Regd. Patent Attorney with Twenty Five year’s professional standing and conducted Civil, Constitutional and Intellectual Property cases in High Courts and Supreme Court of India and Registered hundreds of Trade Marks, Copyrights, Industrial Designs, Geographical Indication of goods and Patents in Intellectual Property Offices in India. The Center will endeavour to sensitize the application and enforcement of IPR in the fair manner and also to conduct research projects. The objective of setting up this Global Center for IPR Education and Research is to impart knowledge and to encourage research in the diverse fields of IPR which is also a necessity in various professional courses such as architecture, design, engineering etc. The center will conduct training programmes to impart procedural knowledge such as to file patents, trademarks ,industrial design and copyright with the objective to promote the technical know how’s among the professionals and students.
The center shall be of interest for every student or professional regardless of their area of work who intent to study and research in the field of intellectual property protection. Various projects, training sessions, conferences, seminars and certificate courses will be undertaken by the School of law in the field of IPR under its established Global Center for IPR Education and research such as for the present session the Post Graduate Diploma in IPR has been initiated at the post graduate level to promote education and research in various forms of IPR such copyright, patent, trademark, design. The global center will also provide internships programmes in patent law and Practice for the students.

Mr. R. K. Nair is a leading Advocate (Specialized in Intellectual Property Laws) & Regd. Patent Attorney with Twenty Five year’s professional standing and conducted Civil, Constitutional and Intellectual Property cases in High Courts and Supreme Court of India and Registered hundreds of Trade Marks, Copyrights, Industrial Designs, Geographical Indication of goods and Patents in Intellectual Property Offices in India. Several International Patent applications filed by Mr. Nair according to Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) were published by International Bureau of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva, Switzerland.
Mr. Nair was appointed as Central Govt. Pleader ( Govt. of India Lawyer) in the High Court of Kerala(1996-1999).And Legal Advisor (Patents):-Research & Development Establishment (Engineers)Ministry of Defense Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), Pune, For 2007- 2012. Being an experienced Intellectual Property Professional, he had already served hundreds of private sector corporate clients and government departments.
Mr. Nair attended “JPO/IPR Training for Patent Experts” at Tokyo in August 25-September 14, 2010 sponsored by Japan Patent Office. And attended WIPO Executive Programme, “Strategic Intellectual Property Finance” at Geneva, Switzerland in November 12 to 15, 2007. He was also a Delegate, Indo-German Intellectual Property Conference, March 10, 11 -2011 at New Delhi.
Being the Director of Institute of Patent Attorneys, India, hundreds of Patent Attorneys are trained by Mr. Nair (2005-15). He was also a Visiting Faculty for Patent Laws, Department of Biotechnology, NSIT, University of Delhi (2006-12).
